The Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) is situated in Central Africa and it crosses the equator in the north-central region. the third largest country in Africa, it is bordered with Central African Republic to the north, Sudan to the northeast, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania to the east, Zambia to the south and southeast, Angola to the southwest, and Angola and the Congo Republic to the west.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO

  • In Kinshasa, there are over 14,000 starving orphans on the streets.
  • There are no government agencies to help.
  • The orphans don’t even have a cup of rice per day.
  • Poverty is so rampant that even families are struggling to feed their own children
  • Many children are orphaned due to the deaths of a generation of middle aged adults.
  • The Population of the Congo is approximately 58.4 million.
  • l7 million people live in Kinshasa, the capital city.
  • The Congo has been in civil war for more than 25 years.
  • Approximately 3.5 million people die from death, war, famine or disease.
  • Approximately 100,000 people die each year from AIDS.

The Hands of Love Orphanage Purpose

  • •An orphanage established to provide optimum care to the displaced children of the Congo.
  • •The orphanage will provide:
  • Adequate housing, nourishing meals, proper personal hygiene, quality education, professional medical treatment, sufficient clothing and a loving Christian environment

Orphan Sponsorship Program

  • 3 Sponsors per child
  • $25 a month per sponsor provides for all needs of one child
  • Build relationships through correspondence, internships and missions opportunities
